Google is preparing to release a new version of Google Maps at I/O this week. A description appeared briefly on the service’s landing page revealing what’s in store: a new UI reminiscent of Google’s recent mobile apps, “tailored map for every search,” , WebGL-powered views borrowed from Google Earth, Flight Search integration, and the ability to compare multiple modes of transportation. It has also been hinted that interactions similar to Google Now, such as restaurant suggestions on route to your destination. The site currently has been pulled but is expected to be announced at I/O.
