A recent report released by McAfee makes claim that Google’s mobile operating system, Android, accounts for most of the mobile malware available. It has been reported that more than 14,000 threats have been discovered in the first three months of 2013 alone. Mobile attacks are found to be affecting users in Australia, China, Russia, India, Italy, Thailand and South Korea. Said malware or trojans steal personal information and make up a majority of these attacks. Other attacks include malicious spyware, phishing attacks and botnets. Mobile attacks are expected to increase in 2013 and McAfee recommends that mobile users use caution when clicking on suspicious links and/or downloading apps outside of approved app stores.
