Popular Israeli-based traffic service provider, Waze, will reportedly be acquired by Google for $1.3 billion USD. The source, a well-established Israeli paper called Globe, states that Google, Facebook and even Apple were all interested in buying Waze. Apple dropped out of the race early though due to the high price and never submitted an official offer. Facebook was also interested in purchasing Waze but could not guarantee that Waze development would stay in Israel. A new Waze client for Windows Phone was recently announced and with Google’s possible purchase may not make the light of day.
